Another wonderfully successful year at the Homes of Hope Village at Guayaquil, Ecuador, as reported by Aleida de Mejia and others at the annual dinner on October 1, 2014.
Following the April 2015 earthquake in Nepal, Tulsi Maharjan recognized that something needed to be done to help rebuild his home nation. Within the month, he brought together members of Friends of Nepal - New Jersey, New Jersey Rotary District 7510, and Lions Club of New Jersey to create the Homes of Hope Nepal Campaign.
The goal of the campaign is to build 1,000 homes for and provide $50,000 in micro-credit loans to the people of Nepal. Along with these homes, we will be constructing community centers and schools in Nepal. We will be working in partnership with a number of organizations in Nepal and America, to bring hope for a better future to some of the world’s poorest people.
We plan to visit every year in early April to help build houses and community centers. In April 2016, a fifteen-member team will embark on the inaugural trip.
In addition to construction projects, we will also plan to implement healthcare service, as well as farming and vocational training during the inaugural mission.
